  Early Days

In 1847, The Hudson's Bay Company built the first sawmill in BC at Victoria. Independent loggers and small logging companies began cutting trees on Vancouver Island for export. Over time, other logging companies and sawmills were established on coastal Vancouver Island and the mainland.
